      Description: Hello. My name is Michele McKnight Baker, I am a descendant of the McKesson family by way of William & Maria (McKesson) Taylor, who married in 1792. According to the McKesson family trees and transcripts from a family Bible, I can offer these details:
      Alexander McKesson (b. 1701-d. 1770) married Mary Ward. His father was John McKesson, whose father, also John, was from Argyle Scotland
      Alexander and Mary McKesson's son William (1747-1826), married Sarah (Reed) in 1771. Their daughter, Maria (1774-1858) married William W. Taylor (1769-1832). William W's parents were Esther Haslit (first of 4 wives) and Robert Tayor. William McKesson was Revenue Collector for Adams Cty. His brother Alexander was captured and held by the Indians for some years. Their brother John was a lawyer in NY, sister Maria lived with him.

      Wm and Sarah McKesson lived and died in Adams Co Pa, four miles from Emmittsburg, MD, two miles from Millersburg or Millerstown, PA and eight miles from Gettysburg, PA. Their son John was educated in Carlisle (as an attorney) and joined his uncle John in New York.
      Wm. McKesson's brothers and sisters: John b. Feb 20, 1734; Margaret b. Feb 10 1736, James b. Jan 15, 1739, Maria b. Sep 20, 1742, Alexander b. Jan 15, 1745, William, b. June 12, 1747, Ebenezer, b. May 2, 1755.

      Sally (Sarah) Reed was intermarried with William McKesson. Mrs William Taylor of Baltimore, and Mrs John Campbell, near Richmond, Virginia, are their daughters.

      William was one of the executors of his father, Alexander's, will and is named in the Articles of Agreement Memorandums of Covenants, dated June 11, 1772, made between Mary McKesson (his mother) and John, James, Alexander & William, executors of their father's will.       son, John; grandson George Clinton McKesson; Maria McKesson (no relationship stated); grandson William McKesson Taylor of Baltimore; granddaughter Sarah Ann Campbell; daughter Polly Taylor of Baltimore MD and Peggy Campbell of Virginia; son in law William W. Taylor of Baltimore and John R. Campbell of Virginia; neighbor - Thomas Reed.
      The will also mentions land both in Adams County, Pennsylvania and Duerville lands near Platsburg in the state of New York [county of Oneida]." Will signed in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania on Dec. 4, 1826. copy in our Alexander McKesson file.
